SABS is honoured and excited to welcome our special guests from across the pond: GQ (Sweet Adelines International Region 19 Quartet Champions) and Old School (Barbershop Harmony Society’s 2011 International Quartet Champions). We’re looking forward to an educational and fun-packed weekend.

Old School stands out in their performances with their special attention to “old school” song choices and a huge energetic sound to go along with it.

The mighty awesome and talented Old School won the coveted Gold Medal at the Barbershop Harmony Society’s 2011 International quartet contest Kansas City. They won the MAD District championship in 2008. Old School placed fifth in international barbershop competition in 2008, second in 2009, and second again in 2010.

Old School’s members are:

Tenor Kipp Buckner (tenor of 1987 champion Interstate Rivals and 1993 champion Gas House Gang) lives in Indiana with his wife Kim and their daughter Kennedy, he is also the proud dad of Kila and Keegan.

Bass Joe “Beast” Krones with wife Vickie live in Texas, he also sings in the impressive bass section of the Vocal Majority chorus, his is the proud father of Chase and Heather (Class Ring) who both are avid barbershop singers.

Lead Joe Connelly (lead of 1987 champion Interstate Rivals, 1992 champion Keepsake, and 2000 champion Platinum) resides in California with sweetheart Roxanne (Surprise Quartet), and is a sought after coach for both BHS and SAI groups.

Baritone Jack Pinto lives in New Jersey with his wife Olga and their son Danya, he directs the Brothers of Harmony and Big Apple choruses.


GQ is a female barbershop and contemporary a cappella quartet based in Baltimore, MD. Since their start in July 2011, they won international competitions, performed their own arrangements of contemporary songs, and recorded two albums. GQ has a passion for being true to a sound that is uniquely their own, and to vocal music education for young singers. Each member of GQ is involved in music education and continues to pursue their own careers in the arts and education. They have traveled the U.S. and have performed in Canada and Germany. They have been featured on A Prairie Home Companion twice, and have made waves on the internet with a YouTube video reaching almost 5 million hits.
